Qualifications to Receive Deep Discounts

The mission of WellPet Humane is to offer low-cost medical services to those pets whose owners are experiencing financial difficulty along with stray or abandoned pets.
Our client service staff will set fees based on financial capacity. In 2015 WellPet Humane extended $318,545 in discounted veterinary services.

Category 1 – Income Qualifications for Discounts
Clients, except those seeking spay/neuter or vaccines at our wellness clinic (these services are always discounted) will be seen on a priority basis.
The following are automatic qualifications:

  • Social Security
  • Students (with ID card)
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Unemployment
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Home Energy Assistance Program
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)

Category 2 – Veterinary Referrals
Pets referred by area veterinarians for “affordability” reasons.
Category 3 – Humane Rescues (Rescue Groups and Pet lovers who find dogs and cats on the street)
Category 4 – Financial Hardships
People experiencing financial hardships that don’t qualify under Category 1 and are unable to afford pet medical services. Determined on a case by case basis.
Category 5 – General Public
If WellPet Treatment Center does not fill it’s daily schedule with clients from Category 1 through 4, than the general public will be scheduled and charged reasonable and customary veterinary fees. All pet owners can walk-in and use the Wellness Center Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Closed 12 to 1 for lunch)

**WellPet Humane’s mission is to prevent economic euthanasia and non-lethal population control as an alternative to kill shelters. For that reason, it is our policy that any unaltered pet requiring surgery of any kind be spayed or neutered while under anesthesia. It is also our policy that any clients who do not intend to spay or neuter their pets will not be eligible for any discount.**
